Notes:
This is the second incarnation of our Kid's Sprout Exploration Kit. The first version passed into history with the demise of The Tube sprouter. The old kit was MUCH more expensive!
We have always thought a clear sprouter was a must for this kit. Watching sprouts grow is cool. Examining sprouts with the magnifier is a thrill. It's easy with a tray sprouter, and it's easiest with a clear sprouter. Clear plastic sprouters are a rarity (we thought glass too heavy and breakable for this kit), so it took us some time to find one. The sprouter in this kit is a generic sprouter which is almost an exact replica of a sprouter we used to sell called Bio-Salad. This generic sprouter is made in China of fairly light weight plastic. It may last for years and years, but it is more fragile than other plastic sprouters we sell. Tray sprouting with this sprouter is a really easy and it is very versatile - you can grow most anything in it. It is a great introductory sprouter.
We include enough seed for four crops. You can grow 2 at once by using both trays of the sprouter at once if you like. Your kid (and you, we hope) will need more seed in no time. You may want to consider Samplers if you want to try a wide variety.
We make very little on this kit, and frankly we have never sold a whole lot of Kid's Kits, but, it is the item we are most excited to see on an order. Growing your own food is an empowering and exciting thing to do. There is no better time to start than when young. We hope you enjoy sprouting with your kids as much as we have.
Happy Sprouting!

Kid's Sprout Kit
Sprouting Instructions
BEANIE’S AWESOME MIX and PEA CARNIVAL
(These 2 varieties grow exactly the same way.)
* Beanie was our first dog’s nickname. Her real name was Jupiter. She loved beans.
Empty the whole packet of seeds into a bowl.
Cover with 1 cup of cool water.
Mix the seeds up with a spoon, or your (clean) finger.
Let them Soak overnight OR 8 to 12 hours.
Pour the bowl of water & seeds into one of the trays.
Rinse the tray with the seeds in it gently with cool water from the faucet (use the Sprayer if your sink has one).
Drain it by tilting the tray until most of the water comes out.
Stack the tray onto the solid brown base and cover it with the lid - or the other tray.
If you are making two trays at once, just stack 'em together. Put the lid on top of the top tray in any case.
While they are growing keep them out of direct sunlight - your kitchen counter is just fine.
Rinse and Drain with cool water every 8-12 hours.
In a day or so you will see some roots - your seeds are sprouting!
Not all of them will sprout at the same time. Some may not sprout at all, but we eat them all when most have tiny sprouts - just 1/8 - 1/4 inch roots.
Eat some and refrigerate the rest in a plastic bag.
MOO MIX
Empty the whole packet of seeds into a bowl.
Cover with 1 cup of cool water.
Mix the seeds up with a spoon, or your (clean) finger.
Let them Soak overnight OR 8 to 12 hours.
Pour the bowl of water & seeds into one of the trays.

Put the lid on top of the top tray in any case.
While they are growing keep them out of direct sunlight - your kitchen counter is just fine.
Rinse and Drain with cool water every 8-12 hours or so.
In a day or 2 you will see a lot of sprout growth.
They will start turning green around day 4.
In 5 to 6 days your sprouts will be done.
You can eat them any time, but most folks like them best when they have green leaves.
12 hours after the last time you rinse them, put them in a palstic bag and then in the fridge.
Dry vegetables will last longer in the refrigerator than wet ones, so drain really well first.
SWEET WHEAT
Empty the whole packet of seeds into a bowl.
Cover with 1 cup of cool water.
Mix the seeds up with a spoon, or your (clean) finger.
Let them Soak overnight OR 8 to 12 hours.
Pour the bowl of water & seeds into one of the trays.
Rinse the tray with the seeds in it gently with cool water from the faucet (use the Sprayer if your sink has one).
Drain it by tilting the tray until most of the water comes out.
Stack the tray onto the solid brown base and cover it with the lid - or the other tray.

Put the lid on top of the top tray in either case.
While they are growing keep them out of direct sunlight - your kitchen counter is just fine.
Rinse and Drain with cool water every 8-12 hours or so.
In a day you will see roots - that’s sprout growth.
We think they’re done when they have tiny sprouts - just 1/8 - 1/4 inch roots.
They are sweet and chewy. Eat some and refrigerate the rest in a plastic bag.

We only use the phone for emergencies.
Back in 2001 we were still using the phone. One day I was talking to a long-time customer while pushing my (then 4 year old) daughter on the swing in our backyard (this is what a mom n' pop business is like on the internet). It dawned on me that my priorities were severely messed up, so I stopped using the phone. I love to talk and I love to help, but my family would never see me if I picked up the phone again, and that's just wrong don't you think?!
The very best way to contact us is through E-mail =:-)
We are quite fast and VERY thorough. We love to help.
We have been an internet only business since 2001. We are not a big corporation. We are but 2 people, Mom n' Pop Sprout. We decided after years of juggling our family's (kids, dogs, cats and even our own) needs, and the needs of Sproutpeople, that we had to make more time for our kids, so we stopped talking on the phone. All calls go to voice mail and have since 2001.
We are very fast to fill orders and answer e-mail, and though we wish we could make the time to talk, we just can't seem to get more minutes into a each hour. We are many years older than when we started and our days are too short and made up of too few hours to do everything. This limitation in our business has not kept us from pleasing our customers, nor from growing (as we have every year since 1993). We do what we do as well as we can, and we think we do it very well indeed.
We appreciate your patronage more than we can say. We ask that you use the phone for emergencies only and that you search our site for answers before e-mailing us. This site is bigger than any 4 sprout books put together, it is always available and it is free, and we know that almost all questions are answered here.
Thanks again for your support and your many kind words.
