The Sproutpeople's Brassica Sprouts

Brassica Seeds

Arugula Micro-Greens

This mildly spicy Brassica (the same family as Broccoli, Cabbage, Mustard and Radish...) has one of the greatest flavors on earth! Arugula is a very fast grower which doesn't even need (and should not have) soaking. Just sprinkle some seeds on moist soil or a thoroughly moistened Hemp Bag or the ultimate Micro-Greens device, a Miniature Garden and watch your crop grow - in just 5 days - into the tastiest green food you've ever experienced. Once you have enjoyed Arugula you won't be able to imagine life without it!

The secret ingredient in our French Garden Mix, Arugula was not available as an organic crop back in 1994. Working for years with our dear farmer friends Mark + Ila we have established it as a standard certified organic crop which has been added by many a wise sprout grower to their ingredient list. Arugula along with Cress (which has exactly the same organic history), Onion and Garlic Chive are without a doubt the most essential flavor additions to any sprout kitchen, but to us Arugula is the most essential and unique!

Broccoli

Famous for it's antioxidant content. Broccoli sprouts can contain something like 50 times the sulfurophane found in mature broccoli, by weight, so you get as much antioxidant in 1 ounce of Broccoli Sprouts as you would if you ate 3 pounds of fully grown Broccoli (These here Sproutpeople are making no health claims - we wouldn't dare - Broccoli sprouts are patented! We're just relating what the published research (©Johns Hopkins University 1997) states). Broccoli is a very tasty sprout - it is the fresh vegetable our 7 year old son likes best.

Our current lot of Broccoli produces the sweetest, most tender broccoli sprouts we've ever had and it has the highest germination rate! We always look for easy and productive seed and this is the finest we have ever had - BUT - it is NON-Organic. We hope to offer certified organic seed someday, but for now this is truly the best there is in flavor, yield and germination.
Also great for Micro-Greens

Variety: Green Sprouting Calabrese

Cabbage

Cabbage is a small seed which produces a mild brassica flavored sprout. Easy to grow and very tasty, we offer both Certified Organic and Conventional (non-organic) Cabbage Both sprout wonderfully. Organic Cabbage is very very rare and expensive.

Our certified organic Red Cabbage produces a gorgeous sprout with red and purple highlights while our Green Cabbage produces a more typical - though equally delicious - green sprout!

Cabbage Patch

Organic Red Cabbage + Conventional Green Cabbage

A combination of 2 different cabbage varieties grown on soil or similar medium (Miniature Garden or a horizontal Hemp Bag) for their very tender greens.

Curly Cress Micro-Greens

aka Pepper Grass, this spicy Brassica is, in flavor, something like Watercress and is a very fast grower which doesn't even need (and should not have) soaking. Just sprinkle some seeds on moist soil or a thoroughly moistened Hemp Bag or the ultimate Micro-Greens device, a Miniature Garden and watch your crop grow - in just 5 days - into a wonderfully tasty micro-green which will become a necessary ingredient in your sprout kitchen. Also a great crop to grow in your office along with other Micro-Greens, especially if you use the Miniature Garden!

Hot2

Daikon + China Rose Radish and Oriental Mustard

(Hot Squared)   A tangy combination of hot Brassicas. The Radish tastes exactly like a radish, the Mustard tastes like horseradish. Mmmmmmmmmmm!

Long Life Mix

Broccoli, Red and Green Cabbage, Oriental Mustard, Cress, Radish, Arugula, Mizuna, Tatsoi

Though more than half of the seeds in this mix are certified organic, the conventional seeds outweigh them (Long Life is 80% Broccoli), so it is labeled conventional. 8 Brassicas combine to make another delicious and nutritious sprout mix. In this case you get high levels of antioxidants ( We aren't claiming that mind you, but the statement is based on patented research) as well as the usual vitamins, minerals and amino acids found in sprouts.

We have taken Long Life Mix out of our paper Variety/Price list and have had it off-line for ages because so many folks call and tell us that it doesn't sprout. We have absolutely NO DIFFICULTY sprouting this mix, but we can't come to folks' homes and do it for them - so it is available here with this deal - we will not take it back (we don't take any seeds back actually - our policy is to help you (within reason) until you can sprout successfully. As you might have read - we are professional sprout growers. All these seeds we sell are the same seeds we use so we KNOW they sprout well - if they didn't, we wouldn't have them!), we will not refund the purchase price and will take only the normal amount of time helping with any growing questions (Just follow the directions: Soak 8 hours in 70° water, rinse thoroughly and drain completely. Repeat the thorough Rinse/Drain every 8 - 12 hours for 5 days and you SHOULD have great sprouts).

This is a great mix and it sprouts wonderfully for us - if you have dealt with or know us, you know that we do not sell inferior products. We just can't take the absurdity anymore - at least as concerns Long Life Mix. Your choice!

Oriental Mustard

A wonderful tender sprout, this Mustard tastes like Horseradish - Mmmmm! This is Oriental Mustard - it is a yellow seed and is the only non-muciloginous Mustard we've ever seen and therefore the only Mustard you can sprout in a conventional sprouter.
Also possible as a Micro-Green.

Radish

Daikon +/or China Rose

One Radish sprout tastes just like one Radish, they are awesome! This combo of Daikon and China Rose is absolutely gorgeous! It produces a beautiful crop of multi-colored sprouts and is very easy to grow. If you like Radishes then you will LOVE these sprouts.

We have noticed (at our farmers market) that Radish Sprout lovers have a sort of spicy character - no foolin'. We provide these sprouts to a world class French restaurant (L'etoile) in Madison, Wisconsin. The Owner and Head Chef, Odessa Piper (voted best chef in the Mid-West in 2001) uses them as a garnish, circling some of her already awesomely beautiful plates.

If you want either straight Daikon or China Rose, just tell us - the price is the same. If you want to grow Radish Greens (Seeds are planted on Soil or similar moisture holding medium and resulting plants are harvested by cutting) you should use straight Daikon - they just work better for Greens.

Do you love Radishes?

Spicy Salad Greens

Daikon Radish, Cress and Arugula

An exceptionally tasty and aromatic mix. This one can be grown on soil or similiar medium, a thoroughly moistened Hemp Bag or the ultimate Micro-Greens device, a Miniature Garden. Milder than (not as hot) the sprouts produced by these same seeds. A beautiful gourmet addition to salads - just scatter a small bunch on top.

Brassica Bundles

If you want to take the easy yet thorough way into sprouting - you can try one of our bundles.

Brassica Sprout Sampler

Single Harvest packs of: Broccoli, Cabbage, Hot Squared, Mustard and Radish

Broccoli Sprouting Kit

For Broccoli Lovers!
Our favorite sprouting device: The Easy Sprout, and 1 pound of many people's favorite seed: Broccoli. The pound of Broccoli will produce about 5 pounds of broccoli sprouts - over time. We've grown thousands of pounds of sprouts from the broccoli we currently offer - it is the best we've ever had and though it is not organic, it is the best sprouting broccoli anywhere!

Broccoli is of course famous for it's anti-oxident content. Broccoli sprouts contain something like 50 times the sulfurophane found in mature broccoli (ie - one 8 ounce crop has as much as 25 pounds of broccoli), but, due to a patent held by the Dr. who headed the research team under the company name Brassica Protection Partners, we can not and do not make any claims as to the benifits of Broccoli Sprouts or Greens or the seeds we sell =;-) but they are wonderfully tender and tasty - even if you don't like broccoli.

We only use the phone for emergencies.
Back in 2001 we were still using the phone. One day I was talking to a long-time customer while pushing my (then 4 year old) daughter on the swing in our backyard (this is what a mom n' pop business is like on the internet). It dawned on me that my priorities were severely messed up, so I stopped using the phone. I love to talk and I love to help, but my family would never see me if I picked up the phone again, and that's just wrong don't you think?!

The very best way to contact us is through E-mail =:-)
We are quite fast and VERY thorough. We love to help.

We have been an internet only business since 2001. We are not a big corporation. We are but 2 people, Mom n' Pop Sprout. We decided after years of juggling our family's (kids, dogs, cats and even our own) needs, and the needs of Sproutpeople, that we had to make more time for our kids, so we stopped talking on the phone. All calls go to voice mail and have since 2001.

We are very fast to fill orders and answer e-mail, and though we wish we could make the time to talk, we just can't seem to get more minutes into a each hour. We are many years older than when we started and our days are too short and made up of too few hours to do everything. This limitation in our business has not kept us from pleasing our customers, nor from growing (as we have every year since 1993). We do what we do as well as we can, and we think we do it very well indeed.

We appreciate your patronage more than we can say. We ask that you use the phone for emergencies only and that you search our site for answers before e-mailing us. This site is bigger than any 4 sprout books put together, it is always available and it is free, and we know that almost all questions are answered here.

Thanks again for your support and your many kind words.
