For lack of a better name we call these Seeds. These are all very fast, tender and delicious sprouts. Almonds and Peanuts are the most addictive of all sprouts - Pumpkins and Sunflowers are done (after only 1 hour of soaking) and 0-12 hours of sprouting, and though they don't store well as sprouts, they won't have too - you'll gobble them down in a hurry. Madison Market combines everything and is the trail mix of the sprout universe. They were extremely popular at our farmer's market stand until we retired in 2002. |
Almond |
Almond Sprouts are often called "soaks" because they swell rather than sprout, producing only a tiny bulge at their germ instead of a root. Absolute heaven to munch, though rather expensive. |
Buckwheat Groats |
These are hulled Buckwheat. They are one of the quickest sprouts around - soak 'em for 1/2 hour, rinse a few times and you have sprouts in about 36-48 hours. They are nutty, plump and extremely tender. A great snack! |

Hemp |
We don't sell Hemp because it is still not legal to even have (much less sell) a seed of the genus Canibus which can germinate, in the US. |

Madison Market MixPeanuts, Sunflower Seeds (Hulled), Pumpkins (Hulled or Naked) and Almonds |
This mix is beyond outrageous! It is a very quick mix to grow, though the resulting sprouts are not so much sprouts as "soaks" - that is, they plump up with water but produce very little (or no) root. This mix has a shorter shelf life than most sprouts - once grown it is best consumed within 48 hours, but believe us - it won't last even that long once you taste it. The shelf life issue is one of flavor not of decomposition. As a rule the Pumpkins will get a bit bitter after a few days and the Sunflowers might get a bit over-ripe, but we've kept it for almost 2 weeks in storage tests and found it still quite tasty. Decide for yourself - like we say - it isn't likely to go uneaten so its sort of a moot point =:-) |

Peanut |
Actually a legume not a nut, Raw Valencia Peanuts make for one way popular sprout! We got thousands of folks addicted to these over the years at the Dane County Farmer's Market in Madison, Wisconsin (where we sold sprouts every Saturday from May-October for 10 years). Peanuts are best when they put out only a bulge at their tip, not a big sprout, but you can decide for yourself (assuming that you can keep from eating them long enough to let them grow). |

Pumpkins are a pretty high end seed. They are expensive and the finished product is best eaten FRESH (as soon as done). Pumpkins are not Sprouts - they are "Soaks". They soak for an hour, during which time they turn into nutrition packed living food, and they are done then and there. They are exceptional, buttery flavored delights. It has been years since we adored our Pumpkin seed. These still cost too much and aren't as good as they were back in the last millenium. Still - they are the best available anywhere in our opinion, they taste great, and they take less time to prepare than most foods. |

SesameWhole |
Sesame is a small seed which makes a great, nutritious addition to many a meal - sprinkle it on salads, sandwiches, stirfry, desserts, souffles - you name it - it is quite inocuous due to its size and tenderness when sprouted. |

Hulled (out of shell) Sunnys are a very quick crop (Soak). They soak for only an hour and are done then or 12 hours later. They don't last long, but they taste so good that that isn't usually a concern. Do not try to grow them longer or store them more than a day or so - they just don't do that. These are hard to find as the hulling process usually results in a too high percentage of broken seeds. Eat them straight from the sprouter, on salads, cereals or any place at all! |

We only use the phone for emergencies.
Back in 2001 we were still using the phone. One day I was talking to a long-time customer while pushing my (then 4 year old) daughter on the swing in our backyard (this is what a mom n' pop business is like on the internet). It dawned on me that my priorities were severely messed up, so I stopped using the phone. I love to talk and I love to help, but my family would never see me if I picked up the phone again, and that's just wrong don't you think?!
The very best way to contact us is through E-mail =:-)
We are quite fast and VERY thorough. We love to help.
We have been an internet only business since 2001. We are not a big corporation. We are but 2 people, Mom n' Pop Sprout. We decided after years of juggling our family's (kids, dogs, cats and even our own) needs, and the needs of Sproutpeople, that we had to make more time for our kids, so we stopped talking on the phone. All calls go to voice mail and have since 2001.
We are very fast to fill orders and answer e-mail, and though we wish we could make the time to talk, we just can't seem to get more minutes into a each hour. We are many years older than when we started and our days are too short and made up of too few hours to do everything. This limitation in our business has not kept us from pleasing our customers, nor from growing (as we have every year since 1993). We do what we do as well as we can, and we think we do it very well indeed.
We appreciate your patronage more than we can say. We ask that you use the phone for emergencies only and that you search our site for answers before e-mailing us. This site is bigger than any 4 sprout books put together, it is always available and it is free, and we know that almost all questions are answered here.
Thanks again for your support and your many kind words.
